Had the LA Angels last night and watched Frankie Rodriguez , who is on pace to break the All-Time single season saves give it up. Rodriguez has 35 saves right now before the All-Star break and that in itself is a record passing Atlanta’s John Smoltz who had 34. Anyway Rodriguez walked the leadoff hitter in the Ninth inning yesterday Ramon Vazquez on 4 pitches, then struck out 2B Ian Kinsler and Frank Catalanotto grounded out to first moving Vazquez to second. Rodriguez had SS Michael Young down with 2 strijes before young singles to left scoring Vazquez making the score 4-3. Up comes RBI leader Josh Hamilton and again Rodriguez had him down with 2 strikes on, before throwing another slow curve ball that Hamilton hit over the fence for a game-winning 2 run homer (5-4).
Don’t know why Rodriguez throws his Curveball or his Change-up so much. Rodriguez has a good fastball that is clocked in the mid-90’s and should throw that more to set up his great Change-up and Curveball and not let hitters see those pitches more than once at bat! Anyway first time in Rodriguez career that he gave up a walk-off homer. Tough way to loss a BEST BET OF THE DAY!
Thanks for listening and don’t fret, because I won’t will be back and firing strong again Thursday. Always come back also Friday to see Gary’s Free Winner. Talk to you soon!
