2008 Bowl Season is Here

Bowl season is here. This season there are 34 Bowls
starting December 20th and ending January 8th with the BCS
Championship. There are 2 new bowl games, the Eagle Bank Bowl
in RFK Stadium in Washington DC and the St.Petersburg Bowl
in St Petersburg, Fl in Tropicana Field. Last year two teams
that were 6-6 got left out Louisville and Troy
which would have been a good game.

This year 72 teams are eligible so only 4 teams of 6-6 or better
will be left out.

The Bowls have gotten alot of flack from the public saying there are to many meaningless games. I for one like the Bowl Games
it gives those teams chances to end season on a winning note
and lets those teams have a reward for a good season.

A 16 team playoff would be too much travel on the teams fans.
I would like to see the Top 4 only in a playoff
2 games the next two days after New Years winners to the Championship two weeks later.

The Bowls are here to stay like it or not !

Get Ready for a Fun Post Season its going to be blast
all the way up to the BCS Championship Game in Miami.

needs this one to secure a shot at bowl for 5th year head coach Mike Stoops.

The Cats have been left out of the postseason since 98.

U of A is led and goes as far as QB Willie Tuitama will take them.

THE BIG 12 IS THE TOP BCS CONFERENCE

BCS should be spelled Big 12. After what looked liked a cut and dry year for the SEC to put a strangle hold on the BCS Championship Game the Big 12 has emerged as as the elite conference as of September 30.
Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma Sooners are Number 1 Gary Pinkel’s Missouri Tigers are number 3.
The Texas Longhorns coached by Mack Brown are ranked 5th. Mike Leach’s Texas Tech Team is number 8.
That’s 4 teams ranked in the top 25.

It was not that long ago that the conference was laying eggs everywhere when Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma St, and even Texas were all down.
The Conference is very much on the upswing. Yes the SEC is still right there. The Pac 10 is noted but that is because of USC. The Big 10 with Penn St and Ohio St are still close by.

The Big 12 has some very tough players with OU’s QB Sam Bradford and RB Demarco Murray. Texas’ QB Colt McCoy, Missouri’s QB Chase Daniel and Texas Tech’s QB Graham Harrell. Lookout BCS Conferences the Big 12 has arrived.

Bruins Going Back to the Drawing Board

The UCLA Bruins started the season back in August in Westwood with two a days.
This team suffered some injuries on both sides of the ball. Most noted QB Ben Olson.
Enter QB Tom Craft who started his career at San Diego St. He then went the JUCO route
and found himself at the top the depth chart in LA.

UCLA started the season on Labor Day Night September 1st with a huge win
vs Tennessee knocking off the Vols 27-24 in overtime. It looked  like UCLA had everything headed into the right direction with a trip to BYU on deck.

The Bruins eight point underdogs headed to Provo confident. They left Lavell Edwards Stadium a 59-0 loser to the Cougars. Provo has always been a graveyard on teams
heading to Utah.

Last weekend UCLA played at home to Arizona as a home underdog +3½ losing
31-10.

UCLA is located in LA a breeding ground for top talent.
Rick Neuheisel is a good coach and a even better recruiter so it won’t be long
before they make their presence known to the Trojans crosstown (12 Miles away)

UCLA is not there yet. If the Rivalry Game (Battle for the Victory Bell)
was played this weekend at the Rose Bowl USC would be about a 24 point favored.

USC is still the King of Los Angeles at least for the time being !
